Description
I went all in a couple of times and came out a winner once. By picking USF over Auburn, my super smartness shunned through. Oh, the validation.
But then I also picked TCU over Texas. TCU had a shot, but I’m going to need to control myself.
Week 3 picks:
3 picks plus 1, the 1 being the Toilet Bowl, featuring Michigan vs. Notre Dame–the other 3 games consisting of top 25 team I feel most comfortable in saying whether they will beat the spread or not.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Vs. Michigan Wolverines
Michigan beats the spread (71/2 point favorites). I don’t know how many points are scored. It could be 10-0, it could be 40-30, beats me.
Michigan is 10 better, even without Henne.
Ohio State vs. Washington
The Huskies are the sexy pic in this one, but I still like Ohio State, who are 3 1/2 point favorites. This is a statement game for Ohio State, who have not looked dominant in a long time, you could argue not since before the Illinois game a year ago. A Washington win would be huge for Washington, devestating to OSU and cause yet another black eye for the Big Ten. Washington beat a good Boise State team in week 2, but I just think OSU will be ready for this one.
Jim Tressel has run an incredibly vanilla offense so far, and I hear some chirping that this will change in week 3. WR Ray Small is back from an injury and he provides a Ted Ginn-esque threat. And oh yeah, Ohio State’s D is better than expected. They will be tested by mobile QB Jake Locker, who should keep Washington close for awhile.
Ohio State- 27 Washington – 20
Oregon Ducks Vs. Fresno State
Oregon is playing good and has the potential to do great things. Fresno State beat the spread and nearly beat Texas A&M last week. Oregon is 16 1/2 favorites, which is too much. As you can see below, Oregon won in 2005 by 3 and 2006 by 7. Dennis Dixon puts up good enough numbers to stay a heisman darkhorse.
Oregon 34 Fresno State- 28
Boston College Vs. Georgia Tech
This should be a good game, featuring two teams who are very equal on paper. The game is at Georgia Tech, but I don’t know if they should be favorites, let alone 6 1/2 point favorites. Boston College has beat one decent team in Wake Forest and one bad team in N.C. State. Georgia Tech has dominated 2 bad teams (Notre Dame, Samford). This should be a slugfest and in the end B.C. cements itself as a frontrunner, along with Clemson, to win the ACC.
Boston College- 30 Georgia Tech – 24
