{mosimage}We all are watching the season unfold. As with the rest of you I have
some thoughts which, since I don’t want to work, I will share with you.
Not liking Notre Dame, I have to say they really suck. The season starting QB quits the team and from afar, I don’t blame him. Does anyone believe he got a fair shake? Genius at work. Yeah right, have you seen a worse offense? Again, from afar, it looks like to me some of the players are phoning it in. As has been mentioned on this board, it will be interesting to see if ND can hold on to all their recruits. Having seen parts of all three games, there is zero sign that this ship will right itself.
USC looks pretty tough. Nebraska has now seen the top of the mountain. They know where they need to go. Seems to me for USC to lose they will have to beat themselves. Since we have all seen that happen before, it will be interesting to watch to see if they can play like champions week in and week out or if the ball bounces right for them.
I’ve seen a little bit of Florida, and they looked tough to me. Tebow and Harvin are special players. Competitive league, anything can happen, but to me they look good.
Prior to the season I picked LSU to win it all. Again, they appear to be very good. Some great matchups through the year.
Michigan. What can you say. They stomped a bad football team. It is reasonable to say they can defend a drop back passer better than a wide open team with a mobile QB. Note- OSU, Penn State, and Wisconsin all play the more standard style. This weekend the matchup between Michigan and Penn State should be very interesting. One of these teams will fall by the wayside. Who? Hell if I know.
Staying with the Big Ten. How about Iowa? My boss came in this morning bemoaning the fact that Iowa should not play Iowa State. Nothing in it for Iowa other than a black eye. This weekend Iowa plays Wisconsin. Again, as we will continue to see around the country a very big game for both teams. Remember, Iowa does not play OSU or Michigan. Now you undewrstand how important this game is for iowa and what it would mean if they beat Wisconsin. Wisconsin just has to win.
How about the pressure on Michigan State to continue the ass whoopin on ND. Talk about pressure.
How good is Purdue?
I would imagine in Alabama the fans are starting to believe they got their monies worth in Saban. I felt sorry for the poor Alabama fans Saturday against Arkansas. They go from happy to distraught, to happy. Been there and that takes it out of you. By the way, McFadden can tote the rock. This weekend Alabama has Georgia at home. Again, this has to add up to a big game for both teams.
Staying in Alabama, how about Auburn? Did you see this one coming? Maybe they should play ND.
How about Kentucky/ Louisville. I am one of those guys who looks at the standings and when I see Rutgers, Louisville, and West Virginia up there I kindof wonder. Pretenders or contenders?
Speaking of West Virginia, do you have any idea how elite they are? I know Slaton and Devine can run. Can they stop people?
UCLA gets spanked. Tennessee has two loses. Are they in danger of becoming a second tier SEC team? Back to Georgia, what tier are they in this year? FSU-maybe it wasn’t Bobby’s boys fault regarding the offense. Maybe they just stink. Whew! Made it through a Miami/Florida International game without world war three breaking out. Virginia Tech. Where do they go after the beat down by LSU?
More questions than answers at this point of the season. I have probably already forgotten some important games along with impressive performances, but you have to admit it has been fun so far with much more neat stuff to come, unless of course, you are Notre Dame.
