Lindsey Graham is one of the worst of the worst in Washington. There is a large contingent of politicians, both Republican and Democrat, who we manage to disagree with all of the time. Here are some of Senator Lindsey Grahms worst ideas and quotes. The video below is a compilation of his best of the best for this Washington insider winner.
His views on the Banks:
(2/15/09) (Full Clip) “This Week” on ABC
In 2009 after supporting TARP and discussing how another 500 billion dollars was needed, Senator Graham said, “This idea of nationalizing banks is not comfortable but I think we’ve got so many toxic assets spread throughout the banking fianancial community throughout the world that we are going to have to do something noone invisioned a year ago, no one likes but banking and housing are the root of this problem I’m very afraid any program that is going to salvage the banks is going to need the government. I would not take off the idea of nationalizing the banks.
Senator Grahams Views on Civil Liberties:
Supports the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. (Aug 2008)
Voted YES on recommending Constitutional ban on flag desecration. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC. (Jul 1999)
Graham has voted to prohibit medical marijuana in Washington D.C. He cowrote PIPA and supports SOPA, which are highly controversial among and opposed by most Americans.
Senator Grahams Views on the military:
Voted YES on extending the PATRIOT Act’s roving wiretaps. (Feb 2011)
Voted YES on extending the PATRIOT Act’s wiretap provision. (Dec 2005)
He supports the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the military to arrest American citizens outside of legal parameters. Regarding that bill he said:
Citizens who are suspected of joining Al Qaeda are opening themselves up “to imprisonment and death. And when they say, ‘I want my lawyer,’ you tell them: ‘Shut up. You don’t get a lawyer. You are an enemy combatant, and we are going to talk to you about why you joined Al Qaeda.’ ”
His Views on Libertarians:
I am not a libertarian. If you are you are welcome to vote for me and help this Republican party but we are not going to build this party around libertarian ideals. I am a Ronal Reagan, Strom Thurmand, Lindsey Graham Republican. Winning matters to me, if it does not matter to you there is the exit sign.
Graham then went on to criticize Ron Paul, saying Paul was not the leader of the party and said his views on the Iraq were wrong.
While we don’t disagree with everything Graham says, the above is enough to show he is a pro war, big government Republican who likes to restrict individual liberties at the Federal level as much as possible. People of his ilk are growing older and will eventually die, which gives us hope for America.
